This is the body

down from the cross;

Here are the spices,

the napkin, the cloth.

This is the garden;

there is the tomb;

Here are the women.

First light lifts the gloom.

But where are the soldiers?

Where is the stone?

Where is the body?

All gone.

This is the Angel

with words of surprise:

“Jesus? He’s not here.

We saw him rise.

Go tell his disciples;

Go tell the world:

Death has been conquered;

New life unfurled.”

These are the women

With nothing to lose.

“Jesus has risen.

Good news! Good news!”
