THE WAITING

See Hear

Hearing God speak … by His Spirit. hearing God speak in the rhythm of the street with the words interwoven with the web – that’s neat

Read the written poem

See Hear – A Rap

hearing God speak

in the rhythm of the street

with the words interwoven

with the web – that’s neat

well, it sounds real cool

though it’s not been proven

that my mind’s in gear

when my mouth is movin’

y’see it could be said

that i’m keen, real keen

to hear from the Master

’n to speak what i’ve seen

but who am i hearin’

’n how can i know

that it’s not just my words

’n i’m caught up in the flow

of my own erudition

a typical condition

of a man in my position

who’s required to show

that he hears what he hears

’n he knows what he knows

he’s done it for years

’n it shows

INTERMEZZO

so… what am i sayin’

’n how much do I see

am i hearin’ God speak

or me, just me

see, you go out on a limb

put your neck on the line

raise your head above the rim

expect a real hard time

cos they’ll shoot you down in flames

take a pot-shot if they can

knock you off your high perch

that’s the way it is, man

but that isn’t to say

don’t listen in the night

for the subtle intervention

of the Spirit, all right

keep all channels open

leave the filters on ‘true’

’n wait till the Word

comes tunnellin’ through

then speak what you hear

’n tell ’em what you know

keep it nice ’n simple

talk slow
